It's tough to imagine Mario, the world's most famous plumber-turned-Koopa-fighting video game star, aging in anyway. Since he first started hopping over barrels in Donkey Kong, Nintendo's most famous creation has always more or less appeared the same, and has always been around. Yet 2015 marks Mario's 30th birthday, and to celebrate he has a special chocolate egg out in Japanese convenience stores.
The treat, at first glance, appears simple enough. It is a spherical chocolate egg, no frills added on its exterior.
Yet crack the sweet open and you'll find a plastic container containing a very special, limited-edition toy of Mario, his brother Luigi or one of eight other characters from the Super Mario universe. Make sure to collect them all before the celebration ends.
